When the knee bends more than 90 degrees the pressure inside the joint shoots up. This can lead to early cartilage wear and tear (arthritis) causing knee pain. Examples of high knee bending activities includes cross leg sitting, side knee bending, squatting etc. Scientific research articles have shown that adapting high knee bending activities for lifetime is a definitive risk factor for the development of early arthritis. Patients with knee pain and arthritis should avoid such high knee bending activities in order to prevent further progression of the disease.
