Examples of high impact activities include brisk walking, jogging, running and skipping. In patients who have arthritis such activities can increases the load inside the knee joint tremendously which can lead to progression of the disease leading to severe arthritis. Henceforth in such patients with knee arthritis the best way to maintain fitness is by doing low impact activities such as swimming, cycling and using elliptical etc.
